Sammy is one of the sweetest dogs ever, and one of the all-time favorites of both our staff and volunteers. He's a Labrador Retriever mix and about 5 years old. We suspect he hasn't had the greatest life, but he hasn't let that dampen his love of people. He's gentle and affectionate, and really aims to please you. He arrived at our shelter a couple of years ago with Elvis, another Lab who was older, and Sammy would befriend him and protect him. Sammy was adopted but now is back with us, through no fault of his own, and really needs a friend right now. He's heartworm-positive, and he needs a special dog lover to foster him through his heartworm treatment. We pay for the treatment, it only takes a few weeks, and mostly all you have to do is keep him quiet -- which shouldn't be any problem, because Sammy is a laid-back, easygoing dog. As soon as the heartworms are gone, Sammy will be ready for adoption, and after you foster him we bet you'll love him so much that you'll want him in your home and your heart forever. He walks extremely well on his leash and he just loves to be petted -- he might be a little shy at first because of what he's been through, but with just a couple minutes of affection you'll see his great big smile come shining through. We just can't say enough good things about Sammy -- he has a special place in our hearts, and we bet he will find a place in yours, too. And if you'd be interested in adopting both Sammy and Elvis, we'll certainly make you a great deal! The adoption fee helps in covering the medical treatment that has been completed. This includes the cost of the spay or neuter, testing for HW, HW preventative, rabies vaccination, wormings, annual vaccination, and flea and tick treatments.
